Small wildfire at Tahoe snuffed out at Angora Thursday, November 20, 2008 -- Firefighters have snuffed out a small wildfire that burned about two acres just south of Lake Tahoe where more than 250 homes were destroyed by a blaze in the summer of 2007. The fire was reported about 2 p.m. Thursday on land managed by the California Tahoe Conservancy bordering national forest land near Fallen Leaf Lake and Angora Ridge. Forest Service spokesman Rex Norman says it was just outside of the area where the Angora fire burned more than 3,000 acres and left hundreds of people homeless in June 2007. No structures were damaged by Thursday's fire, which was declared fully contained about 3 p.m. Norman says the area had recently been treated as part of a fuels reduction project and that may have helped prevent the spread of the flames. The cause remains under investigation.
